‘WHY NIGERIA IS FAILING’
In 1900, Britain officially assumed responsibility for the administration of the whole of what we now know as Nigeria from the Royal Niger Company (RNC),and by 1914 the three territories had been amalgamated.
One fact that is very note worthy is that, in other for the territory to be taken, the British Government paid the sum of 865,000 pounds to the Royal Niger Company. A very huge amount in 1900.
It is important to also note that Britain did not travel half way across the world just to spread democracy. They came for business, and Nigeria started out as a business deal between a country and a company. Hence the continued failure of every attempt to place Nigeria among the community of developed nations.
The truth is, the Royal Niger company is still around today, only with a different name…
